Sending a Resume - Canada

General Instructions.

In your resume objective you can include a summary of your interests or preferences of the job you would like to be considered for. You can get a list of current job opportunities here. You are welcome to submit a resume without applying for a particular job, but if you have a particular job in mind -- please include it in the objective. Additionally, you may include your current salary history, and whether you are willing to relocate or not.

How To Get In The System

• Copy and paste the text of your resume into the appropriate form and send it to us.
• If you send your resume as an attachment to an email it will be rejected, due to the concerns over viruses in attachments.
• Sending your resume in paper form results in needless processing.
• The content of your resume is critical; be thorough. The appearance is not as important as a submission in the required format. The main thing to keep in mind is to be accurate and complete in terms of the content of the resume. Sending in a resume will put you "in the system" for one year.
• It will not improve your chances to send more than one resume.

What Happens Next

When Human Resources is asked to hire people to fill departmental vacancies, they go to a database of resumes and search for keywords in those resumes that are relevant to the position and the requirements for that position. This text-based search will flag the resumes of people who may be a good match for the position on the basis of key words in the resume text.

A recruiter will then review the resumes and contact the most qualified applicants to set up telephone evaluations and in-person interviews.
